幽默翻译对译者来说，是莫大的挑战，这已经是众人皆知的事实。早古罗马时期，西塞罗就指出，与言语形态有关的幽默不可译。直到两千多年后的今天，学者们还在对幽默翻译的相关问题进行激烈的探讨，主要关于文学作品中的幽默翻译和影视剧中的幽默翻译。 在幽默翻译研究的初期，学者们主要是围绕幽默翻译的可译与不可译性展开探讨。美国幽默研究学者d.nilson认为幽默是可译的，而法国学者r. diot则认为翻译幽默和翻译诗歌是让译者无比头疼的事。anne- marie laurian认为在同一语言中人们有时在理解幽默时都会遇到障碍，更何况是在跨语言的情况下，翻译幽默是一个妥协的过程，需要译者付出努力，想象力和创造力（胡兴波，2012）。而在我国国内，许多学者也感叹过译事之难。早在1992年，毛荣贵在其文章《英语幽默语言汉译漫谈》中就提到幽默翻译的可译与不可译，他指出不牵涉表达技巧的情景式幽默比较容易翻译，而在非情景幽默中存在着译事三难。首先是假借英语单词“音”、“形”
